Destination Weddings. Wedding Weekends.
There's been a lot going on recently "behind the scenes" of Jenelle Kappe Photography. Between catching up with last years editing, shooting, new client meetings, my own personal wedding planning (yikes) and the common stressors of taxes and the holidays ... I've also added "business revamp" to the never ending to-do list.
It's been a faint echo in the back of my mind for quite some time for a brand identity upgrade. Naturally, as everyone does, I've grown a lot as an individual and as a business owner over the past few years and I think it's time for that to reflect in my brand. Undeniably, a new logo is in order (and in the works) but what is more critical to me are the things I photograph and how I photograph them. Doing what I love as a profession and not allowing my passion to become a chore is essential to not only my business but to me as a person. It's all too common for photographers to get "burnt-out" - resenting their calling and loosing the lustfulness they once had for photography. So, we take steps. Steps to grow. To remember to be human and to be present, in order not to loose sight of what this amazing world gifted us.
It should come as no surprise that experiencing and traveling to new places is inspirational to me (cough ... @TogetherWeRoam ... cough). But, what ultimately snags me in the heart and has me yearning for more, is having a relationship with people (i.e. my clients) and becoming "one of the group". When I am no longer "the photographer", but Jenelle. Ultimately, allowing me to be a part of the bigger picture. Traditionally destination weddings have been the answer to this. Multiple days of celebration with welcome parties, daily group activities and rehearsal dinners for all guests to enjoy. But I don't feel the label destination wedding is a requirement. It's been brought to my attention, by that faint little echo in the back of my mind, that every wedding is more than just a single day affair.
And so this business "revamp", as I am calling it, is essentially built around my desire to have that extended opportunity to experience your days surrounded by the ones that you love. Which has ultimately led to an idea to now offer "wedding weekend packages" as my primary wedding collection. I want to be there when you are greeting guests at the dock or at your front door. I want to be there at your rehearsal dinner when you actually have the time to talk to and hug your loved ones. I want to be there in the in-between times - not just the made-up, day-of times. Those are the times that typically get overlooked.
Which leads into the perfect introduction to Alexandra and Alex's Harbour Island Destination Wedding Weekend. Part of the inspiration behind all of this and one of the best ways, I can think of, to get my wish out into the universe. Thanking them for choosing me to be a part of their wedding weekend will never be enough!!
